We will first explore several ways to design your quilt. You will have the option of simply drawing your quilt or designing it using your favorite software. Options are Photoshop, PhotoPea, Gimp, RapidResizer, Paint. We will then resize our designs to the size of our desired quilt.
We will discuss color and values. We will also discuss types of fabrics like gradients, batiks, silks.
You will trace our designs onto freezer paper then cut sections apart.
Each piece of freezer paper will be ironed to the back of your fabric which will then be cut with a 1/4 inch seam allowance.
You will learn how to piece the sections of your quilt together. This will involve curved piecing. Circles may be pieced into or appliqued to the quilt.
We will discuss quilting designs which give your quilt movement and flow.
You will learn how to couch yarn to the surface of your quilt. The order of which sections to couch first and last will be discussed.
You may want to create a small quilt for this class in order to get more done but there are no restrictions on size if you are feeling confident.
