It’s that time of year again. The hot summer weather is nearly gone and we’re enjoying some occasional crisp fall weather. Time to slip on a sweater and enjoy the turning colors of the leaves.
Let me introduce you to my favorite sweater pattern, the Blackwood Cardigan from Helen’s Closet.
This is a downloadable PDF pattern which comes in a huge range of sizes (0 – 30) and includes a comprehensive instruction booklet. You can print it out on your home printer or take it to a copy shop and have them print it on A0 (33.1″ x 46.8″).
I found a good quality rayon/cotton knit remnant in this beautiful bronze/black stripe and whipped it up in no time.
I am 5’3″ so shortened it by about 3 inches. When I pinned the pockets on to see where they landed they were just too high so I opted out of adding them.
This happened to be a light knit that stretches quite a bit but never loses it’s shape. I absolutely love it. This pattern was so easy to make. I do have a serger and used it to finish off the seams but you could easily sew this with just a slight zig zag stitch to give the seams a little stretch then finish them off with a wider zig zag stitch.

I would love to see your version!
