This is an independent class offered by Rachel Derstine to anyone who is interested in learning. You do not need to belong to a guild to participate. Class size will be limited to 25.
The class will be live and interactive with some prerecorded video clips. Students will be allowed personal access to all prerecorded segments for two weeks from the start of the class.
Update: students will have access to all video clips for three weeks or however long is necessary due to slow mail service in delivering kits.
Learn about combining colors and how to coordinate hand dyed and commercial fabrics for an effective background. Learn to cut and stitch curved piecing that amazingly lays flat. Learn easy quilting designs which will be introduced and demonstrated. Learn how to cut organza circles and how stitch them to the surface with single or double needle applique. Learn how to couch yarn to the surface for movement and definition. NEW ADDITION (OPTIONAL): Learn to screen print with paint on the surface of your quilt with thermofax screens. This will be demonstrated in class but you do not need to purchase these products or try this feature.
