Learn the techniques I like to use to create fantasy landscape quilts full of color and depth. We will create a background using modified applique method then use it as a canvas on which to add more trees, foliage and moon or sun. This is landscape quilting which suggests a scene but we are not necessarily going for realism. This will be a multi level class in which I start out creating the above quilt which is appropriate for beginners. You will be given an optional pattern. I will briefly cover the basic techniques so that you may stick to the simple landscape or use these techniques to apply them to your own, more complex design.

“Rachel’s Landscape Class is so full of tips, techniques, and tool how-to’s, it’s worth every minute of your time. She is an extremely supportive and inspiring instructor, willingly sharing her expertise. During the live sessions, Rachel welcomed and encouraged students to share their own experiences with products and techniques. While she provides patterns and fabrics for those who want them, Rachel also encourages any student to develop their own design and provides feedback if requested on fabric choices. If you want a safe learning environment with fun classmates and a stimulating teacher, this is it. I look forward to more learning with Rachel Derstine!” – Lynne Forrest
