Six hour class divided into two 3 hour sessions:
Session 1: Oct. 12, 2022, 11AM – 2PM Eastern (NYC)
Session 2: Oct. 19, 2022, 11AM – 2PM Eastern (NYC)
Learn the art of creating quilts which represent your favorite buildings or neighborhoods. You will base your quilt on your image keeping in mind that perspective is what it’s all about. You can make your quilt realistic or bump up the colors and make it playful. We will be doing some piecing and also a lot of fusing. You may want to use prints or hand dyed cottons – it’s entirely up to you.

In this class you will be taught how to create with two basic techniques. You will need to choose which of these techniques you prefer for the quilt you are making in class:
In the first option you will be using one basic fabric for your background or large building. You will then piece colorful windows or doors to add to the scene.
For the second option we will be enlarging a photo of your building or buildings to the size of your quilt. We will use this as a pattern from which we will cut the shapes of your buildings with the proper perspective for your scene.
Choose from your stash or purchase your hand dyed or commercial fabrics: an interesting focal fabric and various values in other hand dyes, batiks or prints. Gradient fabrics are always fun. I generally like to choose a gradient for my background or for one building. Quilting and facing will be demonstrated and discussed.
You may want to create a small quilt for this class in order to get more done but there are no restrictions on size if you are feeling confident.
